The job description is as follows:
Main Responsibilities:
PSS Counselor:
- The Psychosocial Supervisor is responsible for planning, developing, and refining training materials and resources for Psychosocial Support (PSS) counseling. The role
- includes delivering practical training sessions, providing ongoing technical support to PSS counselors and relevant staff, and ensuring the effective implementation of
- psychosocial practices.
- The Psychosocial Supervisor coordinates and oversees psychosocial support activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality mental health and psychosocial services.
- This position involves training PSS counselors in best practices and effective methodologies, mentoring and guiding staff, ensuring adherence to professional and
- ethical standards, and fostering a supportive environment for both beneficiaries and team members.
Mental Health:
- Take a sample of patients from the registers for every 11 main indicators and check them in the village to verify that the patient received the services, is
satisfied from the services, and there is no user fee in the HFs. The sample for each indicator should not be less than 3 patients.
- At the end of the month, s/he will check all the registers with the MAIR of the HFs and ensure that they match with each other and there is no any
discrepancy between registers and the MAIR.
- During the month, s/he will conduct CAF prepared checklist in the HF and submit the filled checklist to the management of the sub-office for follow-up.
- In addition to the above-mentioned tasks, s/he will monitor/supervise the HFs and perform other tasks as per his monthly action plan, job description,
and direction of his/her line manager.
- 5. To ensure mental health and PSS counselor services outlined in the BPHS document is provided through all health facilities and health posts.
- 6. To act as the mental health-PSS counselor focal point of Health project and represent CAF in any related training, workshop, meetings and etc.
- 7. To train health facility staff and CHWs about mental health and PSS services required by BPHS.
- 8. To perform other tasks required by the line manager.
- 9. Support the Health Facilities and Health Posts in the proper application of the Mental Health and PSS Package in line with BPHS Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Coordination
- Plan, implement, and monitor psychosocial support activities in alignment with project objectives and approved guidelines.
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of services across all supported locations.
- Team Supervision
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to psychosocial staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and support staff professional development and well-being.
Case Management Oversight
- Review and support complex cases, ensuring ethical, confidential, and culturally sensitive interventions.
- Promote trauma-informed and client-centered approaches in service delivery.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and report data on psychosocial activities.
- Identify gaps, challenges, and areas for improvement, and recommend corrective actions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Strengthen referral pathways and service integration.
- Represent the organization in relevant coordination meetings when required.
Safeguarding and Ethics
- Ensure strict adherence to safeguarding policies, confidentiality principles, and professional ethical standards.
- Promote a safe and protective environment for beneficiaries and staff.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
- Medical Doctor (MD) or equaling
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from a well-recognized university.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychosocial support or mental health programs.
- At least 1 year of experience in psychosocial or mental health programs within the health sector.
- Strong knowledge of psychosocial intervention methods
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural and challenging environments.
- Proficiency in Pashto and Dari to effectively communicate with team members and beneficiaries in their native languages.
